Maniabandha Saree Tradition.

The famous handloom weaving craft of Maniabandha Ikat Saree from odisha is the living Buddhist village of Maniabandha(Nuapatna) was displayed live at Patha Utsav with many women member from a city-based organization and lady officers of the Odisha Government doing a fashion parade of sorts on the Nabakoti Style of Textiles, which is basis of the Maniabandha pattern and is well-known world over.  As per the tradition and legend, the locality, where presently Maniabandha sarees are being weaved had a prominent link with Buddhism and many families are still practicing the Buddhist traditions in their day-to-day lives.

Tools Used in Handloom Ikat production.

1. Charka:
Charka is for winding of yarn on the bobbin. A bobbin is a cylinder spindle on which yarn or thread is wound for weft ikat.

2. Warping machine on which yarn for warp ikat is prepared.

Frame for designing.

3. Frame:
Frame used to obtain beautiful designs on weft ikat. Designs are marked on the yarn which is tied to the frame.

4. Loom:
Loom, the weaving process.The bobbin is fitted to it and then attached to the loom for weaving of the yarn into fabric.
